Cotto vs Margarito 2 - Do you applaud reckless behavior that endangers the well being of competitors, even more than the nature of the sport does on its own?

If the answer to that question is no, as it should be, then it is impossible to root for Antonio Margarito at all, and especially not in a rematch against a fighter he may have victimized with those very tactics.

When Miguel Cotto and Margarito face off in their bitter and emotional rematch on December 3, I will not be rooting for Tony. I have always admired Margarito's chin and heart, until I realized the latter was as black as coal.

Cotto Margarito - The use of plaster to harden the hand wraps, thereby inflicting more damage on a opponent, is not only unfair, but in my opinion, it is criminal. Why? Because it is negligent or malicious behavior to injure a person while they are pursuing their livelihood.

Let us ask this question. What if, God forbid, Cotto was paralyzed, suffered a blood clot or worse at the hands of Margaritio?

Do you not think he would be pursued for murder charges, or at least one humongous civil suit? I am all for forgiveness and allowing someone to pay their debt. The governing bodies suspended him; that is over, and now, he is back.

I am not saying he shouldn't be allowed to box, though if it were my decision, he would have been banished permanently. Still, that was not the ruling. The ruling was that he is licensed to box. Be that as it may, I could never root against a man trying to avenge a wrong that literally changed his career.

I generally don't outwardly root for anyone in my articles, but for this fight, I make the exception.

In the reworked spirit of Maximus Decimus Meridius, I hope that Miguel Cotto, victim of an altered career and target of a dirty tactic has his revenge in this life on the night of December 3.

I don’t know what substance is that and I’m not sure if that is an exemption.

(b) The use of hemostats such as Thrombin, Avetine or Adrenalin 1/1000 solution shall be allowed between rounds to control the bleeding from minor cuts and lacerations sustained by a contestant as permitted by the roles and regolations of the Local Boxing Commission. If the Local Boxing Commission has no role concerning permissible hemostats, then only Adrenalin 1/1000 is permitted. Each contestant is obligated to know and comply with the roles and regolations of the Local Boxing Commission as to use of hemostats.

LOS ANGELES, California - Eight-division boxing champion Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao is once again being dogged by issues outside of the ring, even as he continues his training camp in the Wild Card Gym in California.

Pacquiao's recent promotion as a lieutenant colonel in the Armed Forces of the Philippines has sparked criticism, with some saying he does not deserve the honor approved by President Benigno Aquino III, as the rank is usually reserved for college graduates.

The pound-for-pound king has responded to the people questioning his promotion, saying, "Alam nila na hindi lang basta-basta. Sila naman ang naki-alam, yung mga nasa taas."

"Hindi sila basta-basta magpo-promote ng ganoon kung hindi ako qualified," Pacquiao added.

Pacquiao has also found himself in a legal battle with his forming accounting firm VisionQwest.

VisionQwest claims they covered up Pacquiao's failure to pay his taxes, and are now suing him for $649,000 - the cost of their services, and the money they lent him to pay his taxes.

Pacquiao's financial adviser, Michael Koncz, released a statement over the weekend confirming the lawsuit, but adding that VisionQwest had breached its confidentiality clauses, and the lawsuit is now in the hands of Pacquiao's lawyers.

Koncz refused to comment further.

Despite the distractions, the US leg of Pacquiao's training has not skipped a beat, and he is even ahead of schedule, according to coach Freddie Roach.

Pacquiao sparred nine rounds with two sparring partners and worked on the punching bag after.

We are less than two weeks away, and the buzz is closer to inaudible than it is to being palpable.

Even the most major marketing mechanism is falling short.

In the past several years, Pacquiao fights have been broadcast by HBO Pay-Per-View. The premium cable channel has, in turn, used its multi-part “24/7” documentary series as an advertising vehicle for four of Pacquiao’s past five bouts.

Pacquiao-Mosley is a Showtime pay-per-view broadcast. That network turned to its “Fight Camp 360” documentary series to chronicle the weeks leading up to the bout.

The first episode, shown three weeks ago, lacked a compelling storyline. It introduced viewers to the personalities but failed to drive a must-see narrative as a hook for prospective pay-per-view buyers. It aired initially on CBS, hidden away at a weekend hour when viewing audiences are typically smaller.

Of those who were nevertheless sold on the prospect of watching subsequent “Fight Camp 360” episodes, the second installment, which clocked out at a surprisingly short 20 minutes, proved to be even more disappointing.

The fighters seem to spend less time on screen than their supporting cast of trainers and camp members. The bout seems less important than b-roll footage of scenery and asides detailing the various minutiae surrounding Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley.

They are one- to two-minute vignettes that don’t really fit into a structure. And while together they are a linear storytelling of the time leading up to the fight, they lack a clear storyline.

Manny Pacquiao is a stellar, smaller man seeking his 14th straight victory, and yet again he is in the ring with someone who is bigger and more powerful than him.

Shane Mosley is an aging former champion seeking redemption in the form of one more big win, an uphill battle when considering that his opponent is the best fighter in the sport today.

To tell that story would invite back the criticism of Pacquiao-Mosley that had come out when the fight was first signed, criticism that subsided – distracted by the fight’s move to Showtime and the possibility of cross-promotion on the network television airwaves of CBS.

Mosley is coming off a 2010 in which he had one round of glory against Floyd Mayweather Jr., only to be rendered ineffective in the balance of the bout en route to a one-sided decision loss. His next outing that year was a dreadful draw with Sergio Mora.

Pacquiao is coming off a 2010 in which he easily defeated Joshua Clottey and Antonio Margarito and sold tens of thousands of tickets in Cowboys Stadium, but he did not fight the one fight fans most want him to see, a mega-fight with Mayweather. And while Mosley is a future Hall of Fame inductee who carries more name value than some of the other fighters Pacquiao could have gone on to face instead, he is not an opponent who is stepping into the ring at the apex of his career.

Aside from Freddie Roach’s quick note of Mosley’s risk/reward ratio, this hasn’t been mentioned on “Fight Camp 360” – for obvious reasons. Doing so could undercut the selling points if viewers think that Mosley stands no chance against Pacquiao.

Or it could provide another reason to latch onto Mosley as a protagonist.

He’d been the underdog before, more than two years ago against Margarito, only to dominate and win by technical knockout.

How does his past play into the present? What do he and his team see in Pacquiao? What do Pacquiao and his team see in Mosley? What are the problems with facing yet another big man who can hurt Pacquiao the way he got hurt against Miguel Cotto and Margarito?

Granted, HBO’s “24/7” series became formulaic and sometimes seemed reliant on contrived situations. But it had structure and a narrator to drive the story.

“Fight Camp” has no narration, and it lacks good interviewing to bring out the best in its cast of characters. This approach worked for the “Fight Camp” episodes on Showtime’s “Super Six” tournament, bouts in which the storyline was embedded, episodes that served less to sell the fights and more to keep people talking about them in the months between bouts.

Where are the great quotes from Mosley’s trainer, Naazim Richardson, as he breaks down what’s going on in camp and what he sees going down on fight night? What does Freddie Roach have to say about what’s going on in Pacquiao’s camp? Are his usual distractions while training in the Philippines better or worse than usual? What does Roach think Pacquiao will get out of working with junior-welterweight beltholder Amir Khan?

Instead we see Pacquiao in snippets as he’s visiting with politicians, as he’s filmed for a comedy show, as he’s late for showing up to train, as he hits the pads with Roach, as he steps in the ring with Khan.

We see Mosley eating. We see Mosley driving. We see Mosley shooting pool. We see Mosley hit the speed bag.

There is no tension. There is no drama. There’s little in the way of action.

Last night, Manny Pacquiao rest and relaxed on a coffee shop that's why in the morning he has full of energy to train hard on his 3rd day of training in Baguio. And I think this Pacquiao vs Mosley fight is more exciting than his other fight.

It is the first time that 3 consecutive days he did a incline uphill run. It was only 29 minutes that he run the 15 kilometers long of incline uphill. His trainer Buboy Fernandez and conditioning coach Alex Ariza was surprise of the energy of Manny Pacquiao shows. This is why Pacquiao was told that to slow down his training so that could not have an over-trained.

Starting today Manny Pacquiao starts his training with high altitude on Baguio for the preparation for his fight to Sugar Shane Mosley on May 7, 2011. On his first day of Altitude training Manny Pacquiao is very determined to trained very hard. He will be trained on a high Altitude weather on Baguio for 3 weeks. Manny Pacquiao do a lot of training from Jogging, Abdominal crunches, and Pliametric exercises, he do it all to maintain his stamina and to become more stronger. For his first week of training, Manny Pacquiao will focus more on his stamina and conditioning.
